MMA SYSTEMS

Where We Recommend Using MMA Systems

  • Medical centers and laboratories
  • Food processing facilities
  • Industrial cold storage and freezer rooms
  • Chemical industry facilities
We classify MMA systems as industrial flooring solutions.
For offices, retail spaces, and private residential construction, we recommend using specialized decorative floor coatings.
Technical Data
  • Rapid curing and full operational readiness within 1–2 hours after installation, allowing for significant time savings and reduced production downtime—especially critical during repair and renovation works.
  • Ability to install the flooring at sub-zero temperatures, enabling work during winter conditions or in low-temperature environments such as refrigerated and freezer rooms.
  • Ease of refurbishment of existing MMA flooring, as methacrylate resins provide excellent adhesion to previously installed MMA-based surfaces.
  • Adjustable surface roughness, allowing the flooring system to be tailored to specific functional, safety, or anti-slip requirements.
MMA Flooring Properties
  • Hygienic and antibacterial properties, achieved through a seamless surface without joints or open pores. Aggressive micro-environments such as fungi and bacteria do not develop on methyl methacrylate flooring.
  • Safe for human health, making MMA flooring systems ideally suited for use in the food industry.
  • No emission of toxic substances, even during long-term continuous operation.
  • High resistance to a wide range of chemical agents, ensuring durability in aggressive industrial environments.
  • Fully waterproof flooring systems, preventing moisture penetration into the substrate.
  • Excellent abrasion resistance, due to the high hardness of the top layer.
  • UV-stable and non-yellowing — MMA flooring systems do not degrade, fade, or yellow under ultraviolet exposure.
  • Low-maintenance and easy to clean. A wide range of cleaning agents can be used, as MMA materials are chemically neutral.
The key value of methyl methacrylate (MMA) flooring systems lies in their unmatched installation speed for high-wear, durable floors, as well as their ability to be applied at sub-zero temperatures.
The main advantage of these systems is their rapid curing time — typically within 1–2 hours. This characteristic makes it possible, in emergency or time-critical situations, to install flooring without interrupting the operation of the facility. All application and polymerization processes can be completed before the start of the morning shift, minimizing downtime to an absolute minimum.
Key Properties and Limitations of MMA Flooring Systems
  • MMA-based flooring systems are highly resistant to chemicals, temperature fluctuations, high humidity, and ultraviolet radiation. Their elasticity and hardness can be precisely adjusted using specialized additives.

  • MMA flooring systems feature a unique bonding technology. MMA resin types are thermoplastics, which provide a chemical bond between each installation layer, resulting in a fully monolithic flooring system. In practice, each new layer chemically fuses with the previous layer (or the existing substrate), creating an exceptionally strong and durable bond. By comparison, epoxy and polyurethane resins are thermosetting materials and provide only mechanical adhesion between layers. In those systems, each new layer merely “adheres” to the previous layer (substrate), rather than chemically merging with it.

  • MMA flooring systems do not create conditions for the growth or reproduction of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Their hygienic properties and resistance to aggressive chemical agents make them suitable for use in pharmaceutical and food production facilities, as well as in medical laboratories and healthcare environments. These are precisely the types of facilities where we recommend the use of MMA industrial flooring systems.

  • MMA flooring systems are relatively expensive compared to other seamless polymer flooring alternatives, such as polyurethane and epoxy systems. In addition, the presence of multiple components makes the preparation of working mixtures more complex, which also increases labor costs associated with the installation of these floors.
What the Client Should Know
What You Need to Know Before Choosing MMA Flooring
  • During the installation of MMA-based industrial self-leveling flooring, a very strong and unpleasant odor is present in the space until the material has fully polymerized. For this reason, it is recommended to inform neighboring tenants or adjacent facilities in advance about the possible presence of odor and noise during the works. Application must not be carried out if people without appropriate personal protective equipment are present within or near the work area.

  • Certain items—such as partially packaged or unpackaged food products—must be kept away from the application area, as they can quickly absorb the specific odor of the material or experience changes in taste. After completion of the flooring installation, the space must be thoroughly ventilated to remove residual vapors.

  • Due to the rapid curing process, achieving a perfectly even surface is technically challenging. For this reason, the installation of MMA flooring systems should be entrusted only to experienced specialists with proven skills.

  • Before starting the works, it is essential to ensure the availability of a proper forced ventilation system. Internal ventilation is critical not only for safety and occupational hygiene, but also has a direct impact on the final quality of the flooring system. Insufficient air circulation can lead to surface curing defects. In mild cases, this may result in rapid soiling, discoloration when exposed to water, premature wear, or surface yellowing. In more severe cases—especially with thin-layer systems—the resin may fail to cure completely and remain tacky.

  • The minimum substrate temperature during installation is −20 °C, making MMA flooring systems suitable for use in freezer and cold storage environments.

  • A wide range of color shades can be achieved through the use of special pigments or colored quartz aggregates.
